I think I've become obesessed with geode jewellery. They've got a lovely sense of being rough yet fragile.

A little close up...
I just wanted to share a few more pieces by Ruthi Orlin and Kimberly McDonald whose work I featured in the post below.
Ruthi's quirky charm stood out to me (as did the prices, there's a beautiful bargain to be had there!).
And Kimberly's jewellery...well...wow, just wow.

Alternative Acorns

Did anyone see the story about the photo crashing squirrel yesterday? It put me in a little acorn mood this morning!

Beautiful rings by Jodie Brownstein, Stine Bülow, Josephine Bergsøe
Quite possibly the shortest post yet but there's more to come! Plus I think the jewellery speaks for itself today.

Work & Play
Monday, June 8, 2009
I don't often write about my own jewellery work on here, in fact I don't really think I've ever mentioned it before (keeping work and play separate perhaps?!) But here's a sneaky peek of something I designed a while ago, quite the gentleman if I say so myself!

I love this pencil sharpening necklace and "mini necklaces" by Victoria Mason. Any art related or miniature jewellery is sure to be a winner with me!

Todd Reed
Thursday, May 28, 2009
I'm a little lost for words at the beauty of this jewellery by Todd Reed. The use of raw diamonds doesn't detract from the fact that these are all pieces of fine jewellery and I lovethe company philosphy that trends and fashion won't alter their design aesthetic. Whilst I do like trend driven jewellery, it's always great to see someone sticking to their vision, especially when it works as well as this.
It's also really interesting to read that he uses his training as a pastry chef as the basis for the way in which he makes his jewellery! Both are equally tasty professions :)

Liaung Chung Yen
Thursday, May 21, 2009
Liaung Chung Yen creates jewellery he likens to "small expressions of art, desire, wit and sensuality." In his bio he also mentions how the pieces are like small sculptures and I definitely agree. They're like little works of art but to me they're quite playful at the same time. There's a happy quality to them that I can't quite put my finger on. Maybe in these pieces it's the little round buds, they're cute without being cutesy or maybe it's just in the name of the collection "Flourish"

House of Harlow 1960
Tuesday, May 19, 2009
It's not often that I'm taken with celebrity designed jewellery ranges but I think Nicole Richie has done herself proud with her House of Harlow 1960 range. Not only are the pieces wearable but they actually reflect her own sense of style (plus I'm a sucker for anything with rose gold!)

Ethical & beautiful
Monday, March 23, 2009
I think these pieces by Ruff & Cut are truly beautiful. It's a wonderful achievement to have created a piece of jewellery that is ethically sound as I know, rather guiltily in my case, that it's not always the first thing I consider when choosing jewellery for myself.
